Short News: Carter Urges Europe to Break With US on Gaza
Former US president Jimmy Carters speaking to British Daily The Guardian has advised British and other European governments to break from the US and not support the embargo on Gaza .
Speaking at a Welsh literary festival the former US president called Europe’s position "supine" and said that the failure of Europe to criticize the Israeli blockade was "embarrassing".
Carter called the Gaza blockade by the US, EU, UN and Russia "one of the greatest human rights crimes on Earth " adding that it caused the "imprisonment of 1.6 million people, 1 million of whom are refugees".
